Davis Vision Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness & Research at Long Island Ducks Ball Game
PLAINVIEW, NY (Sept. 17, 2007) – Davis Vision helped the Long Island, NY, Ducks raise funds and promote awareness of breast cancer by co-sponsoring this minor-league baseball team’s Second Annual Breast Cancer Awareness night Sept. 5.
In honor of the event, Ducks team members wore pink jerseys and swung pink bats during their home game against the Road Warriors at Citibank Park in Central Islip, NY. The first 1,500 fans in attendance received pink T-shirts, and the entertainment continued after the game with a Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza at the ball park.
For the next 10 days, bids from fans were accepted in an auction for the used jerseys and bats as part of the Ducks’ continuing drive to support breast cancer awareness and research. Nearly $600 was raised for the QuackerJack Foundation, the Long Island Ducks’ charitable arm.
Davis Vision has been a sponsor of the Long Island Ducks for six of the team’s eight seasons. The Ducks are members of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
