Davis Vision Eyeglass Donation to Book Wish Foundation

"A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins With a Single Step..."

In June 2008, Davis Vision donated reading glasses to the Book Wish Foundation to support their "Reading Relief for People in Crisis" efforts at the Treguine, Bredjing, and Gaga refugee camps in eastern Chad.

The eyeglasses finally arrived at their destination after an arduous, nearly year-long journey hampered by weather, administrative delays and even a carjacking attempt at gunpoint, en route to Chad.

For many Darfuris, eyeglasses are a new technology they have never encountered. As a result of the "Reading Relief" program and eyeglass donations, men and women in the refugee camps are now able see more clearly, and have learned to read and write.
