Davis Vision Named "Managed Care Lab of the Year"
Essilor Awards 2008 Prize in Independent Distribution Category
PLAINVIEW, NY (April 16, 2009) - Davis Vision, Inc., a Highmark Company, has earned the 2008 Managed Care Lab of the Year Award from Essilor of America, the largest wholesale ophthalmic supplier in the United States.
Davis Vision was honored in Essilor's new Independent Distribution Division (IDD) Advantage Plan category, which recognizes independent distributors who have achieved top sales and marketing performance with Essilor products. Davis Vision offers Essilor's progressive lens blanks and anti-reflective coatings.
"We are honored to have received this award," said Michael O'Connor, Davis Vision's senior vice president of Manufacturing. "Our goal is to provide our members with the highest-quality services and materials available, and we are proud to include Essilor's products among our offerings." This is Davis Vision's fourth laboratory award from Essilor in the past three years.
Davis Vision's wholly-owned ophthalmic labs are externally validated by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Cooperative Ophthalmic Lens Testing Service, Inc. (COLTS), two internationally recognized organizations dedicated to quality management. Davis Vision is one of only three ophthalmic operations in the nation that is ISO 9001:2000-certified, and is the only managed care organization whose manufacturing facilities are certified. Davis Vision has also received COLTS' Certification for Prescription Accuracy and FDA Conformance (impact resistance).
