NEW YORK, N.Y. (March 10, 2003) - Joe Carlomusto, Co-Chief
Operating Officer of Davis Vision, helped to represent the Long
Island chapter of the Cooley’s
Anemia Foundation and attended its Regional Fundraiser on March
4th, 2003 at Tavern on the Green. In attendance were a number
of celebrities – including
Dominic Chianese, otherwise known as Uncle Junior on “The
Sopranos,” Chazz
Palmintieri and Joe Piscopo.
According to Carlomusto, who oversees Client and Community Relations
for Davis Vision, "Community Support is one of our most
important corporate values.
Helping
children
is especially
near
and dear
to our hearts."
The Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, a charitable organization,
is devoted to finding a cure for Thalassemia, commonly known as
Cooley's Anemia, the oldest blood disorder known to science. Children
born with Cooley’s
Anemia require a blood transfusion every two to four weeks to live.
With
each transfusion, deposits of iron are left in the system, which
can lead to heart failure and death at an early age.
Cooley's Anemia patients are the single largest users of blood
supplies in the nation. As a result, keeping blood banks well stocked
is
of primary importance. By giving blood during Davis Vision’s
quarterly blood drives you are providing a lifeline to Cooley's
Anemia patients across the country and maintaining a Davis Vision
corporate
value - making a difference in the community.
